Why this site exists
Nine boats sell what looks like the same day: two snorkel sites, some turtles, a sandwich. Read the listings side by side and they are not the same day at all. They leave from two marinas 20 kilometres apart. The crossing is 25 minutes from one and 45 from the other. One publishes two full hours in the water, another publishes one. Eight say the reserve permit is included and the single most-booked listing never mentions it.
None of that is hidden. It is in the operators' own inclusions lists and in the Environment Authority's published fee table. Putting it next to the price, in the same order on every page, is the entire job of this site.
Where the facts come from
Tour prices, durations, ratings, review counts, inclusions, exclusions, age limits and cancellation terms are read off each operator's own listing on the date shown, in US dollars. Permit rates come from the Environment Authority's own service catalogue for the Dimaniyat Islands Nature Reserve and are quoted in Omani rial with a dated dollar conversion. Where an operator admits something inconvenient in its own words, we quote it rather than smooth it over: the exclusion of transport to the port, the medical conditions that bar a guest from boarding, the plain statement that beaches close from 1 May to 31 October. Review quotes keep the reviewer's first name, country and travel month exactly as published. We do not write testimonials.
What we do not do
We do not inspect the boats, ride the trips, meet the captains or audit safety records. Whether a particular crew finds the turtles on a given morning, or whether the sea is safe to cross that day, is a judgement for the operator and the harbour, not for a website.
We also do not take your booking. Every Check Availability button sends you to the platform the operator sells on, where the price, the inclusions and the cancellation window are theirs.
How the site pays for itself
Links to trips on this site are affiliate links. If you book through one, the platform pays a commission and you pay the same price you would pay going there directly.
That pays for the research and nothing else. It does not decide which trips appear, the order they sit in, or what is said about them. The cheapest trip in the catalogue earns the least and is the one recommended to most visitors; the most expensive one carries the plain observation that it costs $39 more for the same islands.
Corrections
Prices move, permits are re-priced and marinas change their meeting points. If something here is out of date, write to us and say what you found and when you were there. We would rather fix a number than defend it.
